Our commitment

[ INSERT: LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME, the entity that publishes idyllwild.com ] is committed to making idyllwild.com accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We work to meet recognized accessibility standards, we test our site against them, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a one-time project. The site is a guide to Idyllwild for visitors and residents, and it is meant to be usable by all of them.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities. They have three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.

idyllwild.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site was built to Level AA, and the pages we have tested pass automated checks and a keyboard walk. Some parts of the site have not been tested yet, and some content comes from third parties we do not control.

“Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. The known exceptions are listed under “Known limitations” below, along with what we are doing about each one.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of idyllwild.com. If you meet a barrier, or need information on this site in a different format, please tell us:

  • Email: [ INSERT: ACCESSIBILITY_CONTACT_EMAIL, a monitored address ]
  • Postal address: [ INSERT: BUSINESS_ADDRESS ]

We aim to respond within [ INSERT: RESPONSE_TIME, for example five business days ]. When you contact us, it helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following limitations and are working to resolve them. This list is reviewed at each site update.

Area The barrier Who it affects What we are doing Target
Screen reader testing The site has been tested with automated tools and by keyboard, not yet by ear with a screen reader. Screen reader users may meet problems we have not found. A full screen reader pass (VoiceOver and NVDA) is scheduled in the final testing phase before launch. Before launch
Site search Search opens in an overlay provided by Jetpack. We have styled it, but we have not yet tested it with a screen reader or at high zoom. Screen reader users and people who use magnification. Test the overlay before launch; the site’s own results page remains available at /?s= as an alternative. Before launch
Submit an Event form The form’s date and time fields have not yet been tested with assistive technology. Screen reader and keyboard-only users submitting an event. Test the fields before launch; a text format is accepted in the meantime. Before launch
Photographs Many images are temporary placeholders while the final photographs are collected, and their text descriptions say so rather than describing a scene. Screen reader users. Each final photograph will carry a description when it is added. Before launch
Zoom and small screens Pages have been checked on phone-sized screens, but not yet at 200% zoom or in Windows high contrast mode. People who use magnification or high contrast settings. Both checks are part of the final testing phase. Before launch

Some content on this site is provided by third parties, including the events calendar software (The Events Calendar), the search overlay (Jetpack Search), the weather and highway readings (National Weather Service and Caltrans feeds), and the booking sites the site links to for lodging. We do not control the accessibility of that content. We raise issues with those providers when we find them, and we will help you get the same information another way if you contact us.

What we have done

To make this site accessible we chose a color palette whose every text and background pair was measured to meet the Level AA contrast ratio, kept a visible focus outline on every link, button and form field, built the navigation so the keyboard reaches every menu, including the Things to Do panel, added a skip link to the main content, gave every page one heading that names it and headings in order below it, made links and buttons at least 44 pixels tall, used real text rather than text in images, and turned off the animated effects for people whose devices ask for reduced motion. Accessibility is part of our design and development process rather than a check at the end, and it is included in our review whenever we publish new content or features.

Technical information

The accessibility of this site relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA.

How we tested

This site was last assessed on October 1, 2026 by Omens, the agency that built it. We used automated scanning and a keyboard walk of the navigation, during the build and before the final testing phase. Testing covered nine page templates (the home page, a section hub, a guide, the events list, a single event, the Submit an Event form, the weather and roads page, the blog index and the not-found page) and included automated scanning with axe-core 4.10.2 alongside manual keyboard navigation. Screen reader testing has not been done yet; it is scheduled before launch. Automated tools alone detect only a portion of accessibility barriers, which is why manual testing is part of every assessment we run.
